I was watching this show with my dad called Human Planet as he’s really into nature shows and I find them pretty interesting. It’s about humans in general and how we can adapt to such different atmospheres. This one was based on water and there are two families- one live by a really turbulent rapids and rivers and the other live in the mountains.
The family living around the rapids- the father risks his life everyday fishing for food for his family- keeping in mind that it’s a small trail of rock surrounded by turbulent water. He also created a makeshift bridge out of rope which he has to cross everyday- it’s literally just two parralel lines of rope, one being where his feet balance on and the other for his hands to keep steady on with rope vertically to secure it together.
The other family- the kids have to walk up an avalanche to school nicknamed ‘blanket of ice’- it’s a six day journey and if they fall into the river of ice cold water just off the edge, they only have 8 minutes to live.
It makes me proud that humans are so strong and resillient and perseverant. However, I know I can’t live like that- I can’t even imagine my life like that let alone live it.
You can’t help where you’re born- we’re all so lucky. We should be definitely counting our stars.
